Sewer System Replacement Services

Because of its location, access, and its relationship to the overall plumbing system, when a sewer line becomes irreparably damaged, replacement is generally the best solution. In older homes, sewer line replacement is more common as the plumbing materials used are more prone to deterioration over long periods.

Top Tier Plumbing will recommend system replacement when cracks, collapses, or severe root intrusion affect large sections of pipe and cannot be spot-repaired. Before any replacement, our licensed plumber will perform a camera inspection of the existing sewer line. This helps us determine if there is a blockage and map the severity of damage to the main line.

Sewer Replacement Methods

There are two primary methods we use for all sewer replacement services:

Open Trench Sewer Replacement
Open trench service involves excavating a trench along the length of the damaged pipe, removing the old pipe, laying new pipe with proper slope and connections, then backfilling and restoring the site. Although this method is almost always more disruptive and labor-intensive, it is straightforward and allows us to gain full access to the system. Working around other buried utilities, hardscape, concrete patios and other elements makes the process complicated, hence the other method may be more suitable in your particular situation.

Trenchless Sewer Replacement
Trenchless options like pipe bursting or cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) lining mean that the replacement or re-lining happens without major digging and the removal of the old pipe. In pipe bursting, a bursting head fractures the old pipe while pulling a new pipe in its place. In CIPP, a resin-lined tube is inverted or drawn in and cured in place. These methods reduce surface disruption, often lower landscaping restoration costs, and can be completed more quickly.

Top Tier Plumbing is fully equipped to perform sewer replacement services with minimal disruption to your property. In many areas, a permit and inspection will be required before, during, or after replacement to guarantee the work meets municipal standards. We take care of all necessary steps to ensure that a new system will last for decades.
